Learning to Avoid Emotions in Forex Trading

By Ahmad Hassam

One of the overlooked yet the most crucial element of successful trading are maintaining a healthy psychological outlook while trading. At the end of the day, currency traders who are unable to cope with the stress of the forex market fluctuations and unpredictable nature will not withstand the test of time. No matter how skilled you may be as a trader at the scientific elements of trading, you need to be emotionally strong.

As a good trader, you need to be emotionally detached in making trading decisions. One of the attributes of good traders is that they accept losing. Your trading decisions must not depend on fear and greed. Make decisions based on an intellectual level. Traders who get emotionally involved in trading make hasty decisions resulting in substantial errors. They try to whimsically change their strategies after a few losses. In case of a few winning trades they become carefree.

A good trader needs to be emotionally balanced. In the midst of a losing streak, try to take a break before fear or greed starts to dominate your strategy. You cannot win every trade. You must be psychologically capable of coping with losses. Even successful traders go through stretches of losing trades.

If you are going through a bad stretch in your trading, you should think of taking a break. Take a few days off from watching the markets. Try to clear your mind. If you keep on trading relentlessly during tough market conditions, it can breed greater losses and ruin your psychological confidence.

Make no mistake about it. No matter how much you study, practice and trade; there will be losing trades throughout your trading career. The key is to make them small enough in order to live to trade another day. You can overcome a lot of bad luck in your trading by using good money management rules.

You need to control your emotions in order to become a master trader. One constant is the human emotional behavior despite many new methods that have been introduced to traders. After all, markets are just people selling and buying. Markets are only a reflection of investors emotions.

Buy on a rumor and sell on a fact. People afraid of losing their money start to sell on rumors. Fear of losing money makes the market prices go down. People become greedy and buy trying to catch a free ride. Fear of losing a good opportunity makes the market prices to rise up and up, creating a bubble.

As a forex trader, you learn technical analysis to help capture profits from a movement in the price. You should understand and learn how price action takes place by developing a forex trading system that is ruled based and does not depend on emotions to make decisions.

The best method to overcome emotions in trading is to develop your own trading system that is ruled based. It should be mechanical in nature. Trading is an art. Learn trading as an art. There will always be 10% of discretion in each trade. Develop a trading system that has clear cut rules for entering and exiting a position and rules out most of the discretion. Discretion means using emotions. Make rules to avoid discretion. Use those rules consistently. There maybe a few losses. With a good forex trading system, you can be sure the number of winner will be greater than the losers. - 23218

Trading In The Buff Review

By Mike Reed

This articles is about a new forex course that has garnered a lot of attention lately. It is called Trading In The Buff. The idea behind the course is to teach traders about the concepts of price action. He teaches the method by recommending to all traders that they should get rid of their indicators that they are used to using when trading the forex market.

The course focuses on using price action to spot trends, counter trends, support & resistance, which can be used to predict solid entry positions and the ability to forecast future price movements. The course really focuses on original material, which is a bidg departure from most of the stuff that you get online. Unfortunately with much of the stuff being sold about forex trading, there does tend be some overlapping. As a matter of fact, sometimes it's just blatantly the same material over and over again.

Thankfully this is not the case with the Trading In The Buff Course. Quite frankly, everything that I was taught was completely new to me. You can really tell that John Templeton really took the time to create something all of his own, instead of just stealing some generic trading system. He really took his time to provide an in-depth analysis of price action, as he goes through the course with incredible detail. He wants to make sure that his customers really understand every point that he is trying to teach.

The material is presented in a step by step manner. After every chapter, there is a video to confirm what you have you just read in the book. It's also unique because you get the ability to understand the fundamentals. The problem I feel with many price action methods is that many people can't really explain why it works. For example, with candlestick patterns, you are just memorizing, but there is no fundamental reason why shooting stars (for example) work. All you are really doing is waiting for that particular pattern and trading it.

However, you don't have to worry about that with Trading In The Buff. The course does an excellent job explaining the fundamental reasons why these price action patterns work, and most importantly why they work. It's explained in such a way that anybody can follow along. It doesn't matter if you are a newbie or a veteran trader.

Another thing I like about the course is how simple it is. I find that many forex trading methods are almost purposely complicated. For example, take a look at Eliot Waves. On the other hand, though there are many trading methods that are so simple, it's almost insulting, like moving average crossovers. Trading In The Buff fall somewhere right in the middle. It's simple, but it also provide a lot of depth, which is a lot more than I can say for most courses.

Another trait that I enjoyed about the course is the excellent support I received. When I was first going over the course, there a concept in the course that I couldn't quite grasp. So I emailed support about it. I was expecting the usual 2-3 business days that you get from most companies. But amazingly, i got a response within hours, and eve more amazingly, I got a response from the actual creator of the course, John Templeton.

And lastly it just works. Let's face it. That's what it all comes down to, doesn't it? Being a person who has traded indicators for most of his life, I never really gave much thought to what can be found simply by looking at the price. Except for recognizing generic patterns like head and shoulder, double tops and double bottoms, etc.. But I was really stunned as to all the valuable information that was available to me just by looking at a simple bar chart. Now I can't even look at a chart and not notice it. My eyes automatically can scan the price movement and find great entries and exits. - 23218

Learn about the Stock Market - Beginners Guide

By Carrie Sommer

The stock market is simply, just that --a marketplace for buying and selling shares of stock in companies. Similar to the grocery store, price and value is most important. However, unlike the grocery store, the buyer can immediately turn around and become the seller of the very same shares of stock he or she just bought. Here are some basic concepts of how the stock market works.

Buying Stock

Buying shares of stock is like making a bet. You are working under the premise that the stock you buy today will be worth more in the future, when you will sell it. Buying shares on under this concept is often called a long position, and is the simplest way to perform a transaction. However, you can also sell stock you dont even own yet--this is called a short position, and is considered more risky

Pricing

Here are some terms you should know before buying or selling shares, and that is the pricing structure.

Opening Price. This is the price of a share of stock when the market opens on any given day of business. Closing Price. The last price of the stock when the market closes. Bid. The bid is what a broker pays for your stock, and excludes the brokers commission. Ask. Your price for the stock, including the brokers commission. Spread. The difference between the bid price and ask price, which amounts to determining the brokers commission.

What Should I Buy?

This question is the most difficult of any you can ask. There are books written about this question, and none have answered it completely. However, there are some things you can study to help you make the best decisions when purchasing stock.

Technical Analysis.

When studying technical analysis, you are learning about the trends of a particular stock, its trading history, and various charts to learn about what the trading future might look like.

Fundamental Analysis.

This type of analysis looks at the company itself. By delving into the financial operations and decisions of the company--such as earnings, growth, sales, assets, debt, etc.--a follower of fundamental analysis believes he or she can predict the companys future which will affect the stock price.

While fundamental and technical analysts often disagree, a new student of the stock market would do well to understand both and perhaps consider both when making trades.

This indicates the importance of understanding the market before you buy or sell. Therefore, your first investment should not be in a stock, it should be in your education. Read all you can, then make your decisions. - 23218

Automate Your Forex Trading Now with the FAP Turbo System

By Alex Miller

It would be nice if we could simply run a computer program and allow it to make us money on a day-to-day basis. The reality of this is a little bit difficult to believe but the fact of the matter is that there are some Forex programs which are able to help you do this. Not all of them are going to give you positive results but there are a few that are worth looking into. Using them on a regular basis may actually help you to make money consistently.

Although there are dozens of these automated systems that are available, there are very few that are worth their weight and even fewer that we would trust in real-world experience where actual money was being traded. One that we do trust, however, along with an increasing number of Forex traders is FAP Turbo, an automated program that has hit the markets like a storm.

Whenever we are doing our independent testing on these various systems, there are a number of different things that we look at to make sure that they are worth ranking well. In many cases, one of these programs will do well in some areas and not as well and others. In the case of FAP Turbo, however, it ranked well in every area where we tested. That is why it gets our highest marks on our main website.

The FAP Turbo program has a very interesting website and that is one of the first things that we look at whenever we are testing one of these independent programs. The website makes a number of different claims that you may consider to be outlandish. For example, they state that you can simply set the program up to run on your computer and then walk away, allowing it to make you money day in and day out.

The testimonials are also something that is interesting to look at on many of these webpages. All of the testimonials on the FAP Turbo webpage were positive, something that we were expecting. Some of the people, however, that left testimonials were raw beginners that were using FAP Turbo to make money.

It is interesting to see what the company has to say about itself but often, that is not going to truly give you an idea of what this program is able to do for you. That is why we independently test all of the Forex products that we possibly can and we also follow a number of other different independent testers who are doing the same thing. Not only were we able to have positive results with this system, every other independent tester that we read about had consistently good results with it as well.

Even better than that, a number of individuals who were actually using the program in real life and did not have any vested interest in the program were able to do so successfully. It's an amazing thing whenever you are able to set up a program such as this and make money automatically. Although we would always suggest that you watch a program whenever it is running, it certainly is a tool that is worth owning. - 23218

Why The Foreign Exchange Market Is Different From The Stock Market Blog

By Todd Schuyler

What is the main difference between the Foreign Exchange Market and the Stock Market? Find out here on my Forex trading software review blog post.

Trading that takes place between two counties with different currencies is the basis for the fx market and the background of the trading in this market. The forex market was established in the early 1970's. The forex market is one that is not based on any one business or investing in any one business, but the trading and selling of currencies.

There are millions being traded daily on the forex market, and almost two trillion dollars is traded daily. This is really huge amounts of cash being traded. The amount is much higher than the money traded on the daily stock market of any country. The forex market is one that involves governments, banks, financial institutions and other types of financial institutions.

What is traded, bought and sold on the forex market is something that can easily be liquidated, meaning it can be turned back to cash fast, or often times it is actually going to be cash. From one currency to another, the availability of cash in the forex market is something that can happen fast for any investor from any country.

The difference between the stock market and the forex market is that the forex market is global, worldwide. The stock market is something that takes place only within a country. The stock market is based on businesses and products that are within a country, and the forex market takes that a step further to include any country.

The stock market has set business hours. Generally, this is going to follow the business day, and will be closed on banking holidays and weekends. The forex market is one that is open generally twenty four hours a day because the vast number of countries that are involved in forex trading, buying and selling are located in so many different times zones. As one market is opening, another countries market is closing. This is a advantage for forex traders with the flexibility to trade twenty fours hours a day.

The stock market in any country is going to be based on only that countries currency, say for example the Japanese yen, and the Japanese stock market, or the United States stock market and the dollar. However, in the forex market, you are involved with many types of countries, and many currencies. You will find references to a variety of currencies, and this is a big difference between the stock market and the forex market. You must get educated on forex because of the many types of currencies involved. - 23218
